Scholarship

WHO WE ARE (NOTE: Just an Example... needs to be cleaned up) AT&T Veterans is an organization made up of AT&T employees who either served in the U.S. military or support veteran causes/issues. We are an independent, not-for-profit organization (501c3) that uses our resources to get involved in veteran activities wherever we can. Many of our members are also members of other well-known veteran organizations like the VFW, American Legion, among others. You can look us up on the IRS web site (Publication 78 - Online Look-up) if you want to be sure we are a "real" non-profit organization. Search for "AT&T Veterans," and we are based out of San Antonio, Texas. 2012-2013 SCHOOL YEAR SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS Number and amounts of awards are determined by the 2012-2013 AT&T Veterans Scholarship committee based on fundraising efforts WE HAVE NOT YET KICKED OFF THE 2012-2013 SCHOLARSHIP SEASON.PLEASE CHECK BACK ON 4/30/2012. WHO QUALIFIES FOR THIS SCHOLARSHIP?

  • Must be a military veteran and be able to provide proof of veterans status upon requestNavy, Marines, Army, Air Force, Coast Guard (Active Duty, Reserve, Guard, Retired) Note: Applicants do not have to be AT&T employees to apply
  • Can provide proof of enrollment in at least 1 class at an accredited college/university or in a technical training institute during the 2012-2013 school year
  • You DO NOT have to work for AT&T to qualify for this scholarship

A statement explaining why you are not actively involved in volunteer work and what your future veteran community involvement objectives are.

  • In no more than 300 words, explain how has the applicant demonstrated a passion for military veteran issues?
  • In no more than 300 words, explain why the applicant deserve this scholarship more than other applicants?

SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS Upon receipt of scholarship award, all potential recipients must provide each of the following to prove eligibility within 1 week of email notification date:

  • Proof of veteran status via one of the following methods:
  • DD214 (with Social Security number blacked out)
  • Signed letter from immediate supervisor (for military on active service)
  • Proof of Enrollment from your college, university, or technical school for the 2012-2013 school year
  • The following additional information:
    • Mailing Address (Street, City, State, Zip Code)
    • Phone Number (incl. area code)
    • Alternate Contact Number (optional)

The proof of veteran status, proof of enrollment, and additional contact/address information must be via one of the following methods:

  1. Fax to a number that will be provided in the award notification email

    1. Do I have to be an AT&T employee to apply for this scholarship? No. This scholarship is sponsored by the AT&T Veterans organization, however it is available to any U.S. Military veteran per the qualifications listed at the top of this page.
  • Are there scholarship awards set aside for AT&T employees? No. Every applicant competes equally. There are no "set asides" for AT&T employees.
  • Can I use this scholarship to pay for a family member's tuition/educational costs?

No. The purpose of this scholarship is to honor veterans of the United States military who are working to achieve a post-secondary education or earn a technical or professional certificate so they can more easily transition from military to civilian life.

  1. I do not have an email address. How do I submit my essay and application to you? There are many providers who offer free online email accounts. Please create an email address for at least the period of time you are applying and waiting for this scholarship. We cannot accept faxed or paper application packages.
  2. Do I have to have Microsoft Office to apply? No. You can provide all .
  3. Can I apply more than once for this scholarship? Yes, you can apply in succeeding years, however, you can only receive one award in your lifetime.
